Tom Gordon’s Kansas City 7, Saturday 1st July

As we step into July, we look back to the classic big band swing sounds from the last century!

Tom Gordon is widely considered to be the top drummer in Scotland and he has been the drummer in the prestigious BBC Big Band for many years. He has made a couple of appearances at Linlithgow Jazz, as part of the house band.

But for our July offering he has gathered together some of Scotland’s top jazzers to create his Kansas City 7.
The band member list reads a bit like a who’s who of current Scottish Jazz:
Tom Gordon: Drums; Lorne Cowieson: Trumpet; Dick Lee: Reeds; Phil O’Malley: Trombone; Duncan Findlay: Guitar; David Patrick: Piano, and Andrew Robb: Bass.

The band pay tightly-arranged classics from the golden era of swing, mainly Count Basie and Benny Goodman, but with a few others thrown in. This will be a fantastic night!

Tickets are available in person only from Far From The Madding Crowd, 20 High St, Linlithgow, and online at Eventbrite.

As always, the fun takes place in the Queen Margaret Hall and starts at 7:30pm (doors open at 7) and – for any newcomers – remember that we don’t have a bar so it’s BYOB – please feel free to bring your own drinks (and glasses) and nibbles.

While we have your attention – please note that we have a DATE CHANGE in September.
Unfortunately we’ve had to move our September date from the first Saturday to the second so this will now be on Saturday 9th September, but we can promise you it will be worth rearranging your diary for!
All other shows will be on the first Saturday of the month as usual.
