It’s all change again for April when we have a slightly more traditional swinging band with local trombonist Bill Jones bringing his Renaissance Swing Band to Linlithgow Jazz.
Bill has assembled a fine team of swinging musicians, many of whom are regular players here. Bill (trombone) will be joined by the inimitable Martin Foster on reeds and the sweet fluent lyricism of Mike Daly on cornet, with Campbell Normand (piano) and Roy Percy (bass) underpinning the swinging horns with drive and panache. Expect the sounds of Basie and Goodman and classic musical interplay between a fine group of players.
We’ll try to keep a small dance floor but with most of our recent gigs selling out, it might prove difficult! And as we sold nearly 40 tickets for this at the March gig, it looks like this might be another busy night.
Tickets (£13) are on sale in Far From The Madding Crowd, 20 High Street, Linlithgow and online at TicketSource
As ever the fun takes place in the Queen Margaret Hall (see the About section for details) and doors open at 7pm for a 7:30pm start, running till around 10pm. Don’t forget the night is BYOB (and glasses, and snacks etc), so stock up, or give yourselves time to nip across the road to the supermarket! Tea/coffee is available at the interval.
