Festive Sextet, Saturday 7th December

It seems to come around earlier every year, but our next gig is our Christmas Party night on Saturday 7th December – and it’s sold out ! Sorry.

This is always a fun night and I’m delighted to say that we have the same fabulous line up as Christmas 2023. The core house band – Sue McHugh (vocals), Jimmy Taylor (bass) and Dave Swanson (drums) – will be joined by three wonderful guests:

Colin Steele has been guesting on our Christmas gigs since the pre-covid days and it just wouldn’t be the same without him! For anyone not in the know, Colin is one of our top trumpet players in Scotland and is certainly the busiest and any gig he plays on is immediately better!

And there isn’t anything to say about Brian Kellock (piano) that hasn’t already been said, simply our finest jazz pianist and we are so lucky he is available for this.

And lastly, but definitely not leastly, we have the excellent singer Iain Ewing joining us to complete the band. Like Brian, Iain has joined us for our last two Christmases and always brings a fun element to the night. Six great musicians, wonderful tunes and perhaps a few Christmas surprises – what are you waiting for?

Our Christmas nights are always very popular and it’s likely that this one will sell out. We had quite a few disappointed people who missed out on tickets for TSYJO so it’s probably best not to hang around if you want to buy a ticket. Over 30 were sold on Saturday at the gig and the remaining tickets (£16) are split between our local bookshop Far From The Madding Crowd, 20 High Street, Linlithgow and online at TicketSource.

Time to dust off the sequins and fire up the snow machine!

The festive fun takes place in the Queen Margaret Hall (see the About section for details) and doors open at 7pm for a 7:30pm start, running till around 10pm. Don’t forget the night is BYOB (and glasses, and snacks etc), so stock up, or give yourselves time to nip across the road to the supermarket! Tea/coffee is available at the interval.
